Recognizing Smoking Addiction Symptoms
Smoking addiction symptoms can be very hard to recognize for chain smokers. The symptoms usually appear once a person quits smoking. Nicotine is very addictive and works quickly to cause the body to become addicted and is therefore responsible for smoking addiction.

How the Addiction Begins
With the first introduction of nicotine to the body, addiction starts. The body goes through a range of responses, all of which make a person feel better. These reactions make a person desire more nicotine to keep the feeling going. Once a person gives into their body's desires, they have become addicted.
Symptoms of Addiction
If a person has to go a long period of time without a cigarette they may begin feeling symptoms of addiction. Symptoms can vary from person to person, but in general a person may get a headache, feel moody or depressed, feel jittery and crave a cigarette.
Smoking symptoms are the body's way of getting that ‘feel good’ sensation. The hardest smoking addiction symptom to overcome is the cravings. Many people cannot quit smoking because they cannot fight the strong cravings they feel. Understanding these symptoms and being able to fight them is the best bet to quitting smoking.
Knowing the symptoms is important for parents with teenage children who may be experimenting with smoking. Sudden jitters, shaking, trembling or extreme mood swings may signal to the parent that their child may be hiding something. Talk to your children and encourage them to confide in you and trust you. Do not accuse them of smoking unless you have some evidence; that may only backfire.
