The Immense Harm Smoking Addiction Can Cause
Smoking is so addictive because cigarettes contain many harmful chemicals. Nicotine is the strongest and by far the worst of chemical in cigarettes. These harmful chemicals cause reactions in the body that can make a person feel good which is why smoking addiction is so common. However, the harm of smoking addiction is becoming more and clearer.
Harm of Chemicals
The chemicals in cigarettes are some of the most harmful known to man. Many of the chemicals found in cigarettes are considered lethal on their own. These chemicals travel throughout the body and get into the blood stream. They can cause problems with oxygen delivery in the body, spread of cancer and a host of other problems.

How Smoking Is Harmful
Cigarette smoke damages the lungs. It is the combination of chemicals and the damage done to the lungs that make smoking addiction harmful. When a person smokes, the antioxidants in their body which are responsible for repairing damaged cells are lowered. This makes smokers more vulnerable to getting sick. It also puts people who live or work close to them at a higher risk due to the adverse effects of passive smoking.
The harms of smoking addiction have been brought to the forefront with medical evidence proving smoking is the cause of many diseases and health problems. Smoking is no longer seen as a habit, but as an addiction that requires treatment and help for a person to overcome so they are no longer risking their health and that of people around them.
