Chantix Side Effects to Watch Out for
Chantix is a drug that is prescribed to help quit smoking. It is different than any other smoking cessation product because it works to dull the brains nicotine receptors instead of acting as a nicotine replacement product. Chantix is a relatively new drug and there is still some research needed into certain aspects of its side effects. However, for the general population it is a safe method of smoking cessation.
People Who Should Avoid Chantix
With Chantix being fairly new and research still to be done, it is not advised that pregnant or breast feeding women and those under the age of 18 to take the drug. These groups have not been studied enough to understand the possible side effects that could occur from Chantix.
Common Chantix Side Effects
In most people side effects will be mild, if they occur. The common side effects of this drug include nausea, stomach pain, gas, weakness, fatigue, increased appetite, after taste, headache and insomnia. Other side effects include abnormal dreams and constipation. It is possible for a person to experience other side effects, but these are the ones that have been most commonly reported by users.
Chantix side effects are generally mild and most patients do not have severe problems that cause them to stop taking the medication. In some patients an allergic reaction can occur; if a person experiences hives, has problems breathing or any swelling in any part of the face or mouth then they should seek medical treatment immediately as these are signs of an allergic reaction.
