Chantix Precautions You Need to Know
Chantix is a new drug that is designed to help people quit smoking. As with any medication there
are precautions you should know about before taking Chantix. Chantix precautions are based upon studies and research that has been carried out on thousands of test and real patients. As more research is done on the medication, more precautions may be introduced.
Who Should Avoid Chantix?
The effects of Chantix on certain groups of people have not been studied. Among these groups are pregnant women, women who are breast feeding and individuals under the age of 18. The effect of Chantix on unborn babies is not known which is why pregnant women are cautioned against taking the drug. Additionally, if the drug passes through breast milk or not is also not known. The effects of the drug on those younger than 18 have not been studied and therefore the drug will not be prescribed to them.
Other Precautions
Other Chantix precautions include its interaction with certain medications and the effects it could have on a person with kidney problems. People on other medications, especially, insulin, blood thinners and theophylline should not take this medication. Chantix can interfere with the medication and cause health issues. Additionally, people with kidney problems may have health risks if they take Chantix.
Chantix precautions are not completely studied yet because the drug is fairly new. These precautions may change as more is found out about the drug. It is always best for a person to consult their doctor with any concerns they may have about Chantix precautions.
